Most industrial robots are mostly “occupied” in large industrial enterprises and have very impressive dimensions. Robot Dobot M1 – the brainchild of the Chinese startup of the same name – is designed for small businesses. It is a programmable manipulator with interchangeable tool heads and sets for soldering, sorting, engraving, cutting, 3D printing and assembly.
The robot is very compact – the height is 52.7 cm. The length of the manipulator arm is 40 cm, with which it can move a load weighing up to 1.5 kg with an accuracy of 0.02 mm. The Dobot M1 communicates with the computer via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or RS-232. The robot can be programmed for necessary actions or managed directly through a corresponding mobile application, Windows, Mac or Linux-computer.
The robot comes in several functional variants. To use them, you will need several appropriate extensions. One of the functions is the recognition of objects and color shades for subsequent sorting. If there are several Dobot M1, they can be programmed to work together.
While the project is under financing at Kickstarter, where he has already raised almost 300,000 dollars. Contributions start at $ 1,600 per copy, with the buyer being able to select the two main tool heads. In the future, the Dobot M1 will cost about 2100 dollars. The fundraising campaign will last until January 13, and delivery will begin as early as May 2017.
